Objective: The purpose of this study is to develop a group counseling program to alleviate the physical, social and emotional burdens of families caring for hospitalized burn survivors.
Method: This program was theoretically developed based on the THRIVE Model and was modified through the feedback of the pilot project. Evaluations of the pilot project consisted of a formative evaluation of the three groups, pre-post testing of outcomes, and program satisfaction surveys.
Results: The analysis indicated that the group counseling program significantly reduced the physical, social and emotional burdens and depression of families caring for hospitalized burn patients. This program also increases psychological well-being.
Conclusion: We suggested that this group counseling program needs to be conducted after discharge in order to continue positive changes toward growth.
